A close friend, Mathias Frei, designs amazingly simple, customizable and lovely furniture in Zurich, Switzerland. He has been creating and selling it over there for a few years, and in 2006 Darko Karas and I started Loadbearing and began importing the shelving system and table to the US. We sell it only via our website (www.loadbearing.com), generally directly to the consumer.

We exhibit at ICFF (the International Contemporary Furniture Fair) every year, and also provided all the shelving for the ICFF Bookstore by Potterton Books in 2007. Our products have been featured in some great publications, including The New York Times, Dwell, Frame, Surface, ApartmentTherapy.com, design*sponge and Better Living Through Design.
